That clicking noise

Remember right before New Years when my hard disk crashed and I pretty much after installing the new Seagate made the observation that it was already borking out by making clicking noises?

Well, while it hasn’t yet stopped making the noises, I’ve just run a tool called HDD Life that has told me that the same hard disk, the brand new Seagate, is in fact the least healthy hard disk on my computer.

Strangely, the Maxtor — which I installed mid last year — is the healthiest even though it should technically be made as bad as the Seagate since they’re both owned by the same mob and, from what I understand, produced in or near the same factories.

My Western Digitals are in the middle of the Seagate and the Maxtor with my quite old IDE 120gb Western Digital performing better health-wise than my more recent 250gb SATA Western Dig’s.

What the fuck?!

I think I might email Seagate or at least the Australian distributor for them and setup an RMA for the drive. I’m going to need them to send me a new drive before I can send them the old one since, well, I kinda need the drive to run on.

Bloody computers.

Oh, and from the sound of it, the neighbour’s cat just knocked over Dad’s medication box in the living room and then, as it was leaving via the bathroom window (its usual point of entry), told me something was wrong that it might have caused by meowing sharply several times and then fleeing.

No worries Gigi. Stop tracking your fleas in here like you’re a Sydney bus and I’ll be even happier.
