False truths and organic media

The NSW Computer Fairs are getting crappier and crappier. Only a few good deals.

Dad got some new parts to build a computer because his one is biting the bullet for some reason, but at least I should be able to salvage his parts to try and make another studio computer for Mike, Boris and myself (more on that later… look for the Focusrite blog entry that’s coming up later on this week).

Anyway, on the way out of the sale, I told the guy who sells media and media related supplies (cd slips, markers, cases, etc) that the JanQ branded media he was claiming were Taiyo Yuden were NOT in fact Taiyo Yuden, as per what I wrote in my blog a couple of months ago. I’m still annoyed I got sold fakes and now I have a spindle of frisbees that I won’t be using for anything important… which in my case is pretty much every backup I make.

He didn’t seem to believe me and for the most part, seemed more than content to dodge and evade my statements on it, especially with a customer or two approaching him. I didn’t really care about my money back as I knew that was going to be impossible, especially seeing that I neither had the receipt nor the spindle with me.

But I wanted him to know.

And when he finally got the message, he said that because his wholesaler tells him it’s Taiyo Yuden, as far as he knows it’s Taiyo Yuden.

So what I’m left with is bullshit. He’s still going to keep telling people that these bullshit JanQ discs are Taiyo Yuden when in fact they’re below-grade fakes that are maybe fit to sit there licking the ass crack of real Grade A mediums with Princo.

That’s just fucked up. I try to do the right thing and I get no progress.

He offered me 10 dual layer Ritek’s Ink-Jet Printable for $35… and then $30. I took it. $3 a disc? Shit, I’ll use them eventually.
