First song for my courier musical “The Bittersweet Delivery”

Ok random blog reading peeps… I’m going to give you a preview of this courier musical I’m writing.

Remember I’m not a pianist in the slightest. At best, I’m a mediocre cellist and bassist.

But here it is anyway… a “sort of” song that still hasn’t been finished yet. Mostly because I’m trying to connect the verse and the chorus while not knowing how to play piano. And because this song is supposed to be the final song in the entire piece so I still have to make the other songs to inject a little bit of each of them in the end.

SackBoy reaches page one on Google!

Possibly one of the more randomly proud moments of my little project’s life is the knowledge that in under a year I’ve hit the first page of Google for the search term “sackboy”.

With just under 500 images in the photography project (seriously, 500th image anniversary coming up in June!), I’ve hit well over the original target of “an image a day for the next year”. It hasn’t even been a year yet. It’ll be a year in August sometime.

And now, the random news that I place fourth on a Google search for “sackboy”.

The ridiculous thing? I’m even above Media Molecule’s entry on that page, and they made the bloody game!

Apologies to Media Molecule if they’re at all offended by this. I run this project to spread smiles and laughter since SackBoy seems to make people smile. 🙂

One of the projects you may not have seen that I’ve started up is called “SackBoy Lives Here!” which is an art project designed to make people smile.

SackBoy Looks Up

SackBoy Looks Up

The idea revolves around the character of SackBoy from Sony’s & Media Molecule’s “LittleBigPlanet” exploring our own planet with his own heightened curiosity. He’s one of the only one of his kind and he’s got a friend there to take pictures of him.

I started this as a means of making myself smile when my ex broke up with me, but had been tossing up the idea for a while before that (practically since Sony gave me a SackBoy plushie). The original project idea was to make it a “picture-a-day” blog, but we’ve already gone past the “one picture every day” mentality and now there’s a structure to it.

Since it started in August, there have been over 150 images of SackBoy put online on SackBoy Lives Here!.

Now that I’m over my ex and all happy again, the project is geared at making people smile. That’s all it is. Making people smile. No plans to sell, no plans to make money; SackBoy Lives Here! exists to make you grin, giggle, and bust a smile.

This image is real. No Photoshop compositing. The Sea Lion really did try and have a conversation with SackBoy. I almost didn't fire the shots.

I’ve just had mini cards made for the SackBoy project because when I’m out shooting with him, people are asking me what this is for. Friends who are there go “haven’t you heard of SackBoy? This is SackBoy” so we now have cards that say “This is SackBoy.”

Pirates vs. Ninjas

Ok, so I have an idea. A basic idea, a simple idea, but for all intents & purposes an idea.

It’s an idea my brother doesn’t like but Ross and I have gone to work on it regardless. And here it is…

A pre-pilot with a very quick script playing off of the old “Ninjas versus Pirates” geek argument mixing with a fake news network.

That’s the simple bit. There’s a bit more complexity to it as we’ve scripted more bits & pieces for this concept, but the overall idea is to have a fake news network with comedic bits.

No, this isn’t like The Onion or The Chaser. We don’t purport to be funny… we sort of just hope we are.

If we hit, we hit. If we miss, we hope to land on something soft & plush so as not to hurt our backs. We like our backs.

In any case, here’s the simple pre-pilot video done with audio recorded over Skype and in person, as well as the gallery of storyboards below in case you like some of the cute little pictures that I edited into this video.
