Leigh forgot his belt today

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

I forgot my belt today.

My waist feels more free than it ever has in years of servitude. I keep it locked behind chain & key (or at least buckle & hole) and now it is freeeeeeeee.

It even has more e's than the Eee.

But I still feel odd without it. As if I need to constantly watch or hold onto my belt loops just in case it could fall down at any second revealing my hairy chicken legs and Casper white thighs.

My old Russian Art teacher jokingly suggested over email that I use the D700 strap as a belt.

Hmm…

Could this be the world's first and only full-frame belt?

…yeah. Not super effective and holding pants up. Nice try, though. Very stylish.

Leigh, the dress-up doll.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

I've been working on this on and off throughout the year.

It's a dress-up doll of me in Flash with actual pieces of clothing from my wardrobe!!!

Yes… go on… dress me up, but if you'd like to undress me in real life, why not send a holler this way… we can both have some fun…

–err… yeah.

Just go on and play with me dress-up doll. :P

People with style. Maybe.

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

It's a quarter to eight in the morning on my day off and I'm sitting in a bus in a line of cars heading into the city.

It's a cold day. Everyone is bundled up and wearing something warm; not a t-shirt in sight.

It's my day off and I'm up early.  I didn't even want the full day off though, merely the morning.

As I sit in a queue that barely moves, I curl my toes up in the thick cotton socks keeping the coldest parts of me warm.

I'm on my way to support Bowie at RAFW. He's invited me out every year since I've started working for him, but until now I've always had something else to do. Ironically, I would have had an interview to do but I've decided to make this a priority.

I've never attended a fashion show before. I hope I don't fall asleep.

"Just look at the hot model girls," my brain tells me. "Then you'll be fine."

The Weekend In Review

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

The weekend I had last was a good one. I could talk about it, but then I'd only be giving you exactly what you wanted. Unless of course you didn't want it, which would mean you should read on. It's forced literary indulging. Or something. Like I have a clue.

Friday night I saw Juliet.

Juliet is becoming a very close friend and we saw The Kingdom together. The Kingdom is very good. Gritty, well directed, incredibly well edited. The acting, story, and everything about it is superb.

And throughout the movie I got my very first massage. Juliet needed a massage so I tried to give her one. We were on one of the lower seats in the front with the wall behind us so we weren't bothering anyone and I gave her one. She in turn gave me one. I've never had a massage before this. Sooo relaxing.

But then I guess that's the point.

Saturday saw me seeing Asha who has just returned from living in not-Sydney. By "not-Sydney" I mean that I don't actually have a clue where it was, only that it's "not in Sydney" and that it was somewhere up the coast and obviously wasn't in Sydney.

So Asha's back and we met up for coffee and conversation in Newtown. And it just so happened that we had a nice affair with Ricotta Hotcakes with maple syrups and blueberries plus raspberry pulp while we were eating at a nice cafe near the Station. Scrump-diddly-umptious. I wonder if I've just given The Whitlams new song writing material…

Anyway, we walked around and I even bought stuff. I actually even fulfilled something I've been looking for for ages.

Are you ready?

When APEC goes, the sun comes out

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

You simply could not ask for a more beautiful Sydney day than what was seen on Saturday, September 15. The weather was quintessential Sydney: warm temperature, deep blue skies sparing us of pretty much any clouds, and a nice pleasant breeze drifting on by to greet those of us who ventured out of our brick & concrete coffins this fine day.

Compare that to the weekend of last, one where violence was expected but peace prevailed. Twenty-one world leaders gathered in the military dictatorship of Sydney to talk affairs and enjoy the scenary (or the bits of it that had been closed off from the public by large unfriendly fences with armed guards at almost every point).

On that day the sun was shining, the birds were singing, the bees were hastily informing us birds and bees don't make the best of lovers and… — oh yes… There were clouds all over the sky. Big dreary puffs of white and grey stretching all over the horizon and back.

And that was to be the irony of APEC. No one wanted it here except for the Prime Minister. Not even the weather wanted APEC here.

Saturday was different. Where APEC saw people out in full force as the masses marched their peaceful protest, those individuals were out enjoying the day in parks, in shopping centres, eating and drinking.

I went into the city myself and looked at those Onitsuka-however-the-fuck-you-say-it Tigers that I'd blogged about only days prior. And damn, are they comfy.

They put my Cons to shame and even rock the ledge that held the retro Gola hi-tops as my most comfy shoe ever. Originally said to cost $180, they were only $80 where I got them and if I end up really loving them this week, I'll be tempted to grab a second pair. From the first moment of putting them on, you can instantly tell how damn comfortable they are.

I think that I'm not really a "clothes" sort of person. I don't know what to do with clothes. I can't pick them or coordinate them; all I can do is merely wear them. But what I do seem to like is the accessories: the hats, the shoes, the watches. I like looking and wearing the add-ons.

I suppose on a day as beautiful as this I shouldn't be writing about the material goods that I've bought and have fallen for. I should be writing about the vibrant green of the grass with its fresh smell filling my lungs with the pure air only being outside can provide. I should be describing the clouds, the sky, the people, the moods, the bottles of Coke & coffee cups as people picnic in the park, and the kids running to scare away the pigeons only looking for a bite to eat.

I suppose I should… But it's my blog and I'll do whatever I damn well please. :P
