Yesterday, as the latest media got its greasy hands on the newest artistic scandal, one news outlet put out an article that has to be one of the most poorly written articles I've ever seen.

On the one hand, I think it must be hard for the writer to physically write this article as the viewpoint and coincidental names could be seen as "holy shit, I didn't see that one coming," while on the other should have been written a hell of a lot better.

Or at least passed through an editor.

They do have editors as News Limited right?

When will politicians learn?

One of the bigger stories today - judging by what was on the front page of papers and websites across the country - involved an artistic image of a naked six year old being put on the cover of Australian Art Monthly.

I should say right off of the cuff that I have no problem with the said image. It is art; plain and simple. The works of Ms. P (whom I have always called "Ms. P" because I have no idea how to say Papapetrou) have always been about young girls and innocence. If I remember correctly, she photographs her daughter as the subject of her art. Please correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

I'm not going to debate the issue of naturistic art versus porn because we've all been down this pointless road before. Naked children are naked children. Those of you who automatically think that a naked child constitutes child pornography need to absolutely, well & truly wake up to the fact that you may in fact be idiots.

 

My Dad has been sitting on the couch speaking test patterns into a microphone for the better half of an hour now. Up until a few minutes ago, I've been playing Civilization Revolution but now as I put the laundry in and think about what to do for dinner, I can't help but think that Dad's incessant "Test 1, 2, 3" sounds like the winding down of an old ancient robotic tape that's just about to run out of juice.

Over and over again, he's going "Test one. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten. Eleven. Tweleve. Thirtee-"

He just stopped at thirteen.

And now he's started again.

"Test."

Before this, it was "Peter Piper picked a..." whatever it is the rest of that thing goes.

I can't quite tell whether he's got a logical reason for testing his new sound box and audio program this obsessively or if he's just doing it to irritate me.

He's probably not doing it to irritate me, but you try listening to the background noise of a baritone father slowly saying "test 1-2-3" over & over again and tell me it's not irritating.

"Test 1-2-3."

There he is. Doing it again.

*sigh*

This evening, I decided that I would love to create a wonderfully decorative and yet representative t-shirt for my beliefs to wear around Sydney when the Pope decides to visit. I feel that this shirt not only honours him but honours the understanding of "God" which I may or may not have being the Disturbed Jew that I am.

It would say:

MY GOD THINKS WORLD YOUTH DAY IS BULLSHIT.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be all in caps either. Rather, it could resemble that of a decently written fragment sentence:

My God thinks World Youth Day is bullshit.

It could even be worded for the youth who happen to agree with me:

OMG-ish! My G*D thinks WYD is bullshit! LOL-OMG-ROFLMAO!

That one could have a blue or green pixel-y background to resemble the mobile phone generation.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen... my invisible, hypothetical, and altogether irrelevant deity happens to think that Sydney's Pope visit lasting five or six days and inappropriately titled World Youth Day is a crock of shit.

I've gone and bought myself Spore Creature Creator through EA's New Zealand site.

I've had to go through New Zealand because EA Australia don't seem to want Aussies buying something. They don't want our stinkin' money! How fudged is that?!

In any case, here is how you can find my creations.

I quite like my SPAM. I feel he brings in all of what SPAM has to offer including the likelihood that without any way to protect himself, he'll end up being eaten for breakfast but the most desperate carnivorous creature around who can't find BurgerSapien.

In less than twenty four hours, the person who I could list as my closest and dearest friend will be leaving for land overseas where she will reside for a while.

We saw each other last week when I took a day off and while it wasn't exactly the day I was hoping for, it was still fun nonetheless.

Shed a tear at the passing for one of the world's greatest comedians tonight, folks.

George Carlin has passed away from heart failure at the age of 71.

You can read all about it at the link above and it only got reported on almost an hour ago but... damn. This has me really bummed.

I loved Carlin's stuff and can remember growing up with TV as one of my closest friends (says a lot about me, huh). Carlin would be on in the background. He might be doing stand-up on HBO or be one of the actual funny ones in a Bill & Ted movie, but I'd always remember the face.

I'm extra sad tonight because I was watching the movie "FUCK" on the way home on my iPhone tonight and he's in that. I've now seen Carlin do some of the most brilliant work he ever had done - the introduction of what I see as a proper language that I adore using - and yet now he's gone.

So sad. So fucking sad.

At least he'll be honoured.

Fuck.

I can't contain my excitement!

The final Doctor Who episodes for the season have Rose, Martha, Donna, Captain Jack, the rest of the team from Torchwood who didn't die, Sarah Jane Smith... or whatever her name was... and from the looks of it, all the big bad villains from this year!

Fucking brilliant that is!

Now I'm on NineMSN's Australian Women's Weekly too...
